“Luxury through material, quality through craft, innovative by design.”
Mitsuhiro Matsuda’s legendary eyewear brand elevates opticals to art pieces. The brand merges architectural aesthetics with craftsmanship, using fine Japanese acetate, sterling silver, and 18k gold. With intricate details including hand-engraved filigrees and adjustable nose pads, Matsuda’s sunglasses can take over 250 steps to finish.
Matsuda achieved cult status in the 1980’s and 1990’s, appearing in high fashion editorials and Hollywood films like Terminator 2. The brand’s A/W 1996 collaboration with photographer Nan Goldin spawned a coffee table book, entitled Nan Goldin meets Yukio Kobayashi: Naked New York, which won an award from the Art Directors Club of New York. Matsuda articulates its strong ties to art and culture with heritage collections, as well as with new styles.

“New creation. New style. New Value.”
FACTORY900 produces “The Futures Eyewear” created though continuous innovation.
After 80 years of manufacturing acetate glasses for other brands and three generation after, in 2000, head designer Yoshinori Aoyama decided to create FACTORY900, a more sophisticated and exquisite eyewear brand with the concept “The Futures Eyewear”. Gaining global recognition for its unique and distinctive shape and design, each artisan finishes the frames individually with great care everyday.
In designing FACTORY900, what is important is the object itself, and at the core of this is the question: “can a person cry just by looking at a pair of glasses”? Beauty does not reside in objects. The fact that a person feels beauty means his or her heart has been moved. In order for many people to feel beauty, we must create something that can push the switch of the heart of many more people. FACTORY900 is designed from such a thought.
FACTORY900 has three collections:
Factory900: the very first and the iconic one. The one of a kind lineup of 3D and streamlined models designed from three-dimensional, free thinking perspective, making abundant use of the company’s three-dimensional modeling technology.
Factory900 Lab: an experimental collection that pursues the possibilities of acetate material. Freely bending and cutting acetate sheets, which have a reputation in the eyewear industry for being “unchangeable”. Proposals that directly challenge the possibilities of the material itself.
Factory900 Retro: more futuristic, new vintage. Designed based on the idea of “going back in time half a century and designing glasses of the future”. The collection has a classic style yet is sprinkled throughout with futuristic and three-dimensional shapes that are typical of the FACTORY900.

The latest collection is the Orion collection. Consists of four models that are inspired by the four stars of the Orion constellation: Alnilam, Heka, Alnitak and Mintaka.
These four portals are designed to connect us with the sacred places of ancient civilizations aligned with the Orion constellation: the Xian pyramid in China, the sun pyramid in Teotihuacan, Mexico, the Pyramids of Egypt, and Easter Island in Chile.
